Easy Vegan Brownies

Using this easy vegan brownie recipe you can make some delicious, chewy, awesome brownies.  Sooooo Goooood!

You can use this vegan brownie recipe to make some tasty treats quickly and easily. It is probably my favorite of all the vegan brownie recipes out there. I love my brownies, and with this easy to make vegan recipe I have to be careful not to make too many for my own good!

What you need:

  • 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Pour in water, vegetable oil and vanilla; mix until well blended. Spread evenly in a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until the top is no longer shiny. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting into squares.

When you have finished baking your vegan brownies and have left them to cool for a few minutes and then you can sit back and reap the rewards from the best vegan brownie recipe out there!

If you like coffee, the cup of water can be replaced by a cup of (brewed) coffee for a even richer taste!

We substituted the white flour for a combo of whole wheat and quinoa, with a dash of ground flax…it turned out deliciously, but I would reduce the amount of sugar the next time, and bake for slightly longer than recommended.

What can you use to substitute for the vegetable oil?

You can use unsweetened apple sauce as a replacement for oil in almost any baking recipe. It does change the texture slightly, but not enough for most people to care. It also highly reduces the fat, so thats always nice too. I just sub equal parts and it works nicely.

Does the taste change a lot if you leave out the vanilla extract? I really want to make this but I don’t have any vanilla.

You can leave out the vanilla if you want, but it definitely makes the brownies taste better. Try using another extract, like almond or butter rum?

had to sub veg oil for live and had no vanilla extract. added 6tsp of peanut butter and about 1/2 cup walnuts.
tasted amazing, thanks!!! also i used a little leftover to experiment with the microwave. put it in for about 1.30mins and you get like a little souffle type thing. beware it rises a lot though!
